Gidauniyar Alheri Community Health Centre (GACHC)was set up in June 2010, initially to provide Primary healthcare to the people in twelve traditional wards in Gwale and Dala Local Governments in Kano State, the Centre has been so successful, however, that people from all other wards of the two Local Governments and beyond are now benefitting from its services. It is currently rated as number one PHC amongst over 1400 PHC in Kano and among 28 best PHC in Nigeria in terms of ANC attendance and skill birth delivery.

1.Renovation and Intervention of Medicins San Frontieres (MSF), 2020: The building of the Centre erected on reclaimed pond land, had developed extensive cracking due to the settlement issues, some engineers advocated demolition and rebuilding due to severe structural damage. Dr. Shamsuddeen Usman sponsored a multi-million naira renovation in 2020 saving the facility from demolition. Following Dr. Shamsuddeen Usman renovation, the facility was chosen by Kano State Government and Medicins Sans Frontieres (MSF) as a free Maternal and Child Healthcare Centre in 2021.

2.The intervention of MSF and its Exit 2021-Date: MSF recruited about 50 staff (contacted and Incentive Staff) where deployed to various units for successful service delivery GACHC maintained about 30 of them as volunteer staff giving them monthly allowance January, 2025.

Key Milestones

Facility openings;

1. The facility was first commissioned by the then Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau in 2010

2. After the renovation and a phase I expansion, the facility was commissioned by the Governor of Kano state Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje

3. There is another expansion which awaits commissioning (Sponsored also by Dr. Shamsuddeen Usman) and it is aimed to upgrade our facility to offer secondary services, including:
a. Caesarean Sections (CS)
b. Surgeries
c. Advanced Laboratory Tests
